Penn State Mont Alto forestry student Ryan Karroll of Smithsburg, Md., received a Davey Foundation Arbor Grant Award on Dec. 14. In 2016, the Davey Tree Expert Company awarded fifty $1,000 merit-based scholarships to the best and brightest students in the green industry across the United States.

Penn State Mont Alto has been named a top 10 gold-level Military Friendly School in the category of “public schools with less than 10,000 students.” Designated by Victory Media, the award places Penn State Mont Alto in the “best of the best” category from among 1,200 post-secondary schools that were designated as Military Friendly in November.
Applications for the Penn State Secondary Mathematics Noyce Scholarship Program must be submitted by Jan. 18, 2017. The competitive renewable scholarships will provide $19,000 per year for eligible students’ last two years of college.

Imagine your classroom is an incredible journey, traveling through South Africa and studying while also getting introduced to amazing people, places and animals. Penn State Mont Alto business management student Erica Newton experienced such a journey in spring 2016, when she participated in Penn State’s Allied for Earth Sciences Engineering and Development in Africa (AESEDA) Parks and People: South Africa Wild Coast Program.
