Remaining true to its roots, on April 24 the Penn State Mont Alto campus will host its “Every Day is Arbor Day” spring event bringing students, faculty, staff and alumni together to plant trees and work in the Penn State Mont Alto Arboretum.
Penn State Mont Alto is offering on campus and online courses that cover a wide variety of subject areas to strengthen students’ academic skills, accelerate graduation dates, fulfill course prerequisites, and allow students to pursue special interests. Students can also reduce their fall academic loads by completing courses during the summer.
The brainchild of Deborah Mirdamadi, Penn State Mont Alto instructor in mathematics, the course ASIA 197/199, about India’s cultural and economic diversity, included a trip to India over winter break. The trip, called "Incredible India," enabled a group of Penn State students and three faculty members to experienced the magic of India through its historic sites, people and a variety of cultural highlights. For many, the trip was their first global experience and pushed them out of their comfort zones. For both the students and faculty members, India was, truly, incredible.
Somjit Barat, associate professor of marketing at Penn State Mont Alto, has recently been named coordinator of International and Intercultural Programs. In his new role, Barat will head Mont Alto’s newly established International and Intercultural Programs Office (IIPO) and lead the campus in the development and coordination of multicultural events.
